Cape Town - CapeNature in celebration of World Tourism Day will be launching their new podcast and video series titled "Green Noise”on the 27 September.
The inaugural episode, titled "Tourism & Peace," resonates with this year's World Tourism Day theme set by The United Nations’ World Tourism Organisation.
This initiative aims to create a dynamic platform that explores the intricate relationship between nature, conservation, and tourism, spotlighting the spectacular biodiversity found in the Western Cape.
Minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Anton Bredell commended the project.
“The Western Cape is truly blessed with a unique and spectacular biodiversity. As our understanding of the connectedness between human well-being and the environment deepens, it highlights the importance of protecting our natural environment,” said Bredell.
He emphasized that "Green Noise" will amplify global efforts advocating for stronger environmental protection.
CapeNature’s General Manager in Advocacy, Petro van Rhyn said this year marks 30 years of connecting people to places and cultures through tourism — a vital medium for fostering international understanding and reconciliation in historically divided communities.
Van Rhyn said that in the debut episode, Edith Henn from CapeNature together with Jacques Stoltz from the Department of Economic Development and Tourism will discuss how tourism can serve as a bridge to peace.
MEC for Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism , Dr. Ivan Meyer said since Covid-19, visitor numbers at CapeNature have surged by an impressive 49%.
“I believe that platforms like ‘Green Noise’ will not only facilitate meaningful dialogues but also attract international tourists, while strengthening partnerships with global travel networks,” said Meyer.
Dr Ashley Naidoo, CEO of CapeNature, said ‘Green Noise’ will amplify the voices of nature and those who work tirelessly to protect it, “aiming to elevate discussions surrounding environmental issues alongside positive tourism impacts”.
“Through this new series, CapeNature seeks not only to highlight its commitment to sustainable tourism but also its role in empowering local communities through job creation and support for small businesses”, said Naidoo.
Filmed at picturesque locations such as Kogelberg Nature Reserve, "Green Noise" features interviews with key stakeholders including conservationists and tourism experts.
Each episode promises to connect viewers with nature while providing valuable insights into ongoing conservation efforts across the region.
The podcast aims to address climate change challenges, and celebrating successful eco-tourism initiatives, "Green Noise" is positioned as an essential resource for promoting awareness and action around sustainability in the Western Cape.
