DURBAN - The Sharks will have no have shortage of gas out wide in Super Rugby next year with the news this morning that they have signed Western Province wing Leolin Zas.
This comes a few days after the Durban franchise confirmed the signing of former Kings and current Cheetahs wing Makazole Mapimpi, who was one of the try-scoring stars of this year’s competition.
Zas was a revelation for the Stormers in 2016 only to brake his leg in a pre-season friendly in January and he has not played this year. Zas, 22, represented the South Africa Under-20 team in 2015, played for South Africa 'A' last year and was set for an exciting year only for injury to strike. He can also play fullback.
The Sharks have also recently announced that Western Province flyhalf Robert du Preez is joining his twin brothers in Durban.
Zas and Mapimpi join other speedsters in the Shark Tank in Sbu Nkosi and Kobus van Wyk (another former Western Province player), while veteran wing Lwazi Mvovo will return from Japan in January.
