CAPE TOWN – John Dobson is normally a cool character when the heat is on.

The constant giggle is not a nervous one. Behind the smiling face and shaven head is a strong-willed thinker, someone who often operates out of ‘the box’.

A creative. Confident. Also a Western Province man through and through – which is why he is likely to turn down the Bulls if they come up with an offer that few coaches would ignore.

He’s already a Currie Cup winner, but it’s about building on that, creating a legacy to ultimately take charge of the Stormers one day. And who knows, even the Springboks.

But the immediate task at hand is Saturday’s Currie Cup final against the Sharks at Newlands (4pm kickoff).

‘Dobbo’ was at it again at the team announcement, pulling out a rabbit in the shape of Damian Willemse at inside centre.

He also referred to the “noise” coming out of Durban, where the feeling seems to be that the Sharks have the bite to cause an upset at Newlands.

Is it going to be another thriller in the Currie Cup final against the Sharks, like it was in last week’s 100-minute semi-final against the Blue Bulls?

We sat down with Dobson to get the answers…
