Johannesburg - Andrew Birch completed a five wicket haul for the Warriors as the Lions were bundled out for 166 on day two of their domestic four day match, in Port Elizabeth, on Friday.
In reply to the Warriors' 284 all out on day one, the Lions found themselves in trouble at 11 for four, with Birch responsible for three of those wickets.
The Warriors seamer removed Stephen Cook (0), Temba Bavuma (2) and Devon Conway (1) to leave the visitors reeling.
A partnership of 108 for the fifth wicket between Neil McKenzie (59) and Thami Tsolekile (47) restored respectability to the Lions total, but again Birch struck to end the fightback.
Birch had McKenzie caught behind as a steady flow of wickets ensued.
Brett Pelser scored 25 coming in at number seven for the Lions, but he was the last man out as Birch completed figures of 5/25 in 13.3 overs.
In the Warriors second innings, David White (66) and Colin Ackermann (58) moved the game swiftly along with a 97-run, second wicket partnership, as the hosts' lead steadily increased.
At the close of play, the Warriors were 143 for two, with a lead of 261.
Ackermann and Ashwell Prince (3) were the unbeaten batsmen at stumps.
In Kimberley, Reeza Hendricks scored 80 unbeaten at the top of the order to help the Knights to 156 for three at stumps on day two against the Cobras.
Hendricks shared in a 72-run, opening stand, with Gihahn Cloete (23) before Dane Piedt made the breakthrough for the Cobras.
Piedt then added the scalp of Rilee Rossouw for one as the Knights fell to 82 for two.
Hendricks and Rudi Second (24) combined for a 48-run third wicket partnership when Justin Kemp struck.
Kemp removed Second caught behind by Dane Vilas.
Rain, however, curtailed the day's play with 66 overs bowled, with Obus Pienaar (16) and Hendricks at the wicket at the close of play.
In Benoni, meanwhile, play was called off without a ball being bowled for the second day in a row in the match between the Titans and Dolphins.
