Pretoria – With three games left in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge, Titans captain Darren Sammy says his charges were seeking to end the competition on a high note, starting with their clash against the Dolphins in Benoni.
“It's still disappointing the way we've played in this tournament,” said the West Indian in Centurion.
“I know the Titans have a strong history of winning, or at least getting into the playoffs. In our last three games, we would like to finish on a high.”
The Titans picked up their first win of the competition against the Lions on Friday by a comprehensive 27-run margin in a rain-affected game at Willowmoore Park.
“In Benoni, it was our first win and it was against the top-league Lions,” said Sammy.
“We bowled really well on that occasion. Hopefully we can get another good pitch and come out blazing against the Dolphins.”
The Titans were denied the chance to make it two in a row when they tied with the Warriors on Sunday at SuperSport Park.
The game was also rain-affected and reduced to eight overs a side. Both teams ended on 79, however, the match was not allowed to go into a “super over” due to time constraints after an earlier lengthy delay.
Sammy, who on Tuesday was nursing a shoulder problem after a taxing fielding session in the morning, said he hoped to translate the efforts of his side in training into a winning formula during matches.
“We always enjoy our cricket. We practice and train well, and it's just unfortunate we haven't been able to put all those things into play out in the middle.
“It's not too late. We can still show why the Titans have won so many titles here in South Africa.”
The Titans would be aiming to rise off the bottom of the table having collected just seven points from as many games, while the Dolphins would be under pressure to improve on their fourth spot, on 12 points.
A bonus point win for the Dolphins would move the Durban outfit level on points with the third-placed Warriors, though the Port Elizabeth side would still have a game in hand. – Sapa
