Johannesburg – Imran Tahir has been suspended for one domestic four-day match after being found guilty of a breach of cricket's Code of Conduct rules, Cricket SA said in a statement on Tuesday.
Tahir will miss the first-class match between the Dolphins and Warriors to be played in East London from January 8 to 11.
“I find Mr Tahir guilty of a breach of clause 6.3.1 (a) of the Code of Conduct in that he showed serious dissent at an umpire's decision,” CSA's disciplinary commissioner Rian Cloete said.
The incident occurred during a match between the same two teams in December, in Pietermaritzburg.
Tahir pleaded guilty to the charge and did not attend the hearing.
Cloete said the disciplinary body had no authority to suspend Tahir from playing in the upcoming T20 international matches against West Indies on Friday and Sunday.
“I am satisfied that the appropriate penalty in respect of this offence, which is a level 2 offence, is a suspension for one four-day match,” he said. – Sapa
