Durban – The domestic four-day clash between the Dolphins and Titans was abandoned on Friday, without a ball being bowled in three days at Kingsmead in Durban.

Umpires Ian Howell and Gerrie Pienaar had already put back the scheduled start when they announced an inspection at 11.00am.

The two captains decided to shake hands and share the points on offer, earning five points each for an abandoned game.

There had been no play possible on the opening two days – the first due to a wet outfield and the second because of heavy rain early on Thursday.

However, bright sunshine and blue skies greeted the officials on Friday, although there was little they could do about the muddy patches around the field, particularly inside the square and on the boundaries.

The Titans moved up to fourth place on the log with the win, while the Dolphins remained bottom. – Sapa
