Cape Cobras cricketer Beuran Hendricks’s stock continued to rise when the left-arm fast bowler was bought during the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction by the Kings XI Punjab team for R3.1 million.
It will be the first time the 23 year old will play in the IPL, and despite the price-tag, he does not feel an extraordinary pressure on him to perform. “I do not see money as an achievement, it is all about what you do on the field. Also, I have very good support from my family and the other players to keep me grounded. The main benefit I see from getting into the IPL is that it’s another tournament where I can prove myself.”
The IPL governing council yesterday finalised a window from April 9 to June 3 to play the competition. A decision on the venue will be taken later. - Cape Argus
