On the 9th of July 2021, socio-political unrest ignited a wave of looting and destruction in KwaZulu-Natal.

More than 45,000 businesses have been forced to close and damage to stock and infrastructure amounts to billions.

The unrest may have calmed down but the humanitarian need is ongoing. Hunger is a very real concern in certain areas.

The need for reputable organisations funneling donations into the hands of those truly in need is absolute.

When Cape Town experienced its water crisis, the rest of our beautiful nation rallied and sent trucks full of water. Now it’s our turn to give back!

A team of volunteers in Cape Town and surrounds have partnered with acclaimed NPO Khulisa Streetscapes and Rotary International with the support of City of Cape Town (initiated by councillor Brandon Golding), aligning with SA Harvest to get emergency provisions of food, medicines and other essential items on the road to KZN.

We are accepting donations of essential items at 11 drop off points (and growing!) throughout Cape Town and surrounds. These will be transported and distributed by volunteers in KZN in conjunction with local community forums. We appeal to both business and public to assist, no donation is too big or small.

This initiative also includes supporting the distribution of food and essential items in conjunction with The Cape Animal Welfare Forum (CAWF) to animal shelters in KZN who too have been affected by the unrest.
