Avid collectors drove the final auction price for a poster for the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz to $108000 (about R1.5million), beyond its already high pre-auction estimate, to help push Heritage Auctions’ Movie Posters sale beyond the $2m plateau.
The sale, held in March in Dallas, Texas, reached a final total of $2.037m.
The auction boasted sell-through rates of 98.7%.
