Ian Wyles Auctioneers will be calling for bids for expansive development land in Verulam on site at 11am on December 1.

Andrew Giddy, property manager at Ian Wyles, says the over 22 hectare undeveloped property - spread over two adjacent sites - has “major and diverse development potential” in the thriving Hazelmere Drive node of Verulam’s Redcliffe area.

“Verulam is home to the producers of many well-known South African brands and the area around Hazelmere Drive is rapidly growing with mixed-use developments, such as industrial and residential, to the fore. Shoprite’s main distribution hub is in Verulam,” Giddy says.

He says the demand for property in Verulam and surrounding areas, about 30km north of Durban, has increased substantially in recent years after the opening of King Shaka International Airport on the north coast. The airport is less than 10km from Verulam.

There are several primary and secondary schools in Verulam which has many shopping centres, mosques, temples and churches. The modernisation of the town has been boosted by the provision of infrastructure to the rural areas.

Giddy says inquiries about the property on offer have come from developers with diverse plans, including warehouse erection, as well as the utilisation of the land as a large graveyard, of which there is a shortage in KZN.

The two adjacent properties, with frontage on Hazelmere Drive, are 11.1ha and 11.3ha in extent, respectively.
