Two readers have offered advice about cleaning murky well-point water in a swimming pool.

Tony writes

: Hi Don, I had the same problem when I filled my pool with borehole water. My solution was four cups of HTH granular chlorine and putting the pool on filter (without the Kreepy Krawly) overnight. I achieved crystal-clear water by the morning.

Alan says

: I suggest you use about 100g of copper sulphate crystals dissolved in water. This usually takes about a week to clear, and has always worked for me.

Don

: This is not the first time I’ve heard of copper sulphate being used in pools. In fact, I commented last year about a client’s pool, saying it was the clearest water I had ever seen, and he uses only copper sulphate. It is just a case of getting the quantity correct.
