A farm of 554ha situated at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains in Swellendam with huge tourism potential, will be come up for auction on June 13.
The property, which currently serves as an equestrian/dairy farm, has 40ha under irrigation and includes 300ha of high potential lands and 65ha of pine forests, with the remaining 148ha used for grazing.
Barry Purdham of In2Assets, which will conduct the auction, says the farm has a large main house and a garden cottage. There are also four self-catering cottages, which could be converted, on the property.
The farm has stables, parrot aviaries, a large dam and an abundance of water, and a 12-point milking parlour suitable for up to 450 cows.
“There is an option to acquire all vehicles, farm equipment and the dairy herd as a going concern. A complete list of what is available can be provided on request,” he says.
Purdham believes the farm’s amazing scenery and excellent facilities make it an ideal tourist destination or guest venue.
Swellendam, with about 17537 inhabitants, is the third oldest town in South Africa.
It has more than 50 provincial heritage sites, most of them buildings of Cape Dutch architecture.
The town is situated on the N2 highway, about 220km from both Cape Town and George, making it an ideal stopover point for tourists travelling along the Garden Route.
The property will be sold by auction on June 13 at The Teatro, at Ten on Main, Voortrekker Street, Swellendam.
