A nine hectare smallholding that is about 2km from the little town of Still Bay on the Garden Route, and which offers “stunning” views over the Goukou River, will be auctioned by Home and Hectare.

Still Bay is situated almost 400km east of Cape Town, and the property on offer, which includes an olive grove, could easily be converted into bed-and-breakfast accommodation, with the potential to generate a good rental income, according to Home and Hectare’s Willie van Rensburg.

The smallholding includes a thatched, double-storey manor house, a two-bedroom cottage and three storerooms.

The 660m² main house, with its river views, has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a guest toilet, an open-plan lounge/kitchen, a cold room, a scullery, a spacious entertainment area with a stainless steel braai, and an office with a walk-in safe.

There is a second lounge area on the upper floor, and the property includes three garages.

It has a three-phase Eskom power supply and a 60kVA generator. In addition to the municipal water supply, there are three fountains and a borehole on the property, which also has an automatic irrigation system, says Van Rensburg.

The self-contained 132m² cottage offers two bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen/lounge, and two bedrooms.

It also features a stoep and a single garage.

Other improvements on the smallholding include three storerooms, measuring 700m², 245m², and 60m² respectively. Van Rensburg suggests these could be let as storage units, providing a further source of rental income.

The auction will be held on site at 11am on August 2, with viewing on July 27 from 11am to 2pm, or by arrangement.
