The seemingly endless market for any image of Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe even extended to inside her body a few years ago when a set of chest X-rays fetched $45000 (nearly R630000 today).
The X-rays emanated from a 1954 visit to the Cedars of Lebanon hospital in Florida.
They were sold at a Hollywood Legends auction at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
The actress had been admitted for surgery for endometriosis, a condition of the uterus which caused her a lot of pain.
