BidX1’s chief executive, MC du Toit, says: “Although some buyers are still hesitant to act on very good property prices, there is now a positive sentiment regarding the property market with buyers realising that they have to act soon.

“Purchasers tend to wait until they believe the property market has bottomed out but then may miss out on great opportunities.

“Savvy and motivated buyers will start acting on the current good market buys now - and some have already.”

The highlight of BidX1 SA’s September 11 online auction was the sale of a stylish four-bedroomed, four-bathroomed home on a spacious stand in Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate, near Kempton Park, which fetched just under R8million.

Other notable sales bids included R4m for both a six-bedroomed, five-bathroomed family home with a swimming pool and tennis court in Meyersdal, Alberton, as well as a four-bedroomed house in Glenvista, also in Johannesburg south.

Another property which achieved a good price was a four- bedroomed, three-bathroomed house in Waterfall Village, Midrand, which went for R4.2m, and a home in Marloth Park, the bush settlement bordering Kruger National Park, which sold for almost 30% above the opening bid to close at R645000.
