Waterkloof is the premier suburb of northern Gauteng and it is quintessentially a family neighbourhood, thanks to the mainly established homes on larger stands, in an area known for being close to essential amenities and indulgences.

Resident Monique Winn says she and her family have lived in Waterkloof for 25 years.
They have a local primary school within walking distance and the high schools on the bus route made it the ideal place to raise their children. Suzanne le Roux, who has stayed in the area for 17 years, also speaks highly of the quality of the schools in the neighbourhood and said the many coffee shops are a welcome retreat in which to read the papers after dropping the kids off at school.

Schools include Waterkloof Primary and Waterkloof Pre-Primary and aftercare, both in Milner Street, which is the site of popular coffee spots such as Meet on Milner. “Even in this challenging market, Waterkloof still manages to retain its status as Pretoria’s premier suburb,” says Wendy. The increase in stock levels has afforded buyers a much wider choice than before, requiring that sellers ensure their properties compete well with what is available on the market.
Says Rob: “The buyer’s profile is fairly wide-ranging and includes ambassadors, diplomatic corps, executives, young professionals and entrepreneurs.” Investing in a property in Waterkloof thus normally translates into a guarantee that your property will always appreciate while assuring you handsome rental income regardless of market conditions.

Pretoria Country Club is wonderful for scenic walking and has astonishing birdlife, says Winn. Wendy cites new developments around the club in adjoining Hazelwood, a precinct of upmarket restaurants and retail outlets where Club Surgical Centre day hospital opened last month. All this will add to the quality of life for Waterkloof residents, she says.
Waterkloof was established in 1904 on a former farm of the same name. Wilhelm de Zwaan designed the suburb’s first homes. Waterkloof is more highly valued than most of the suburbs that surround it.
