Meyerspark is an affordable suburb well-situated to the east of Pretoria.
This combination is what makes Meyerspark, sandwiched between Val de Grace and Silverton, a residential area of great appeal, says Janine Botha of Seeff Pretoria East.
“Sales activity is relatively high in Meyerspark. The area is always in demand due to its central location and the affordability of the properties.”
Botha says that sale periods may vary from home to home but houses generally sell quickly, if the property is priced correctly, well presented and in good condition.
The neighbourhood has large stands and houses offering value for money.

“Many full-title houses have a flat, which so often the market requires. Social patterns have changed and more often you will find parents and children living together so these do come in handy.”
Most of the full title properties are priced from about R1.5million upwards.
Botha says certain areas of Meyerspark, including the middle of the suburb, have beautiful and luxurious properties on tranquil streets.
A few guest houses are also to be found in this part of the suburb.
She notes that Meyerspark also has a limited selection of sectional-title properties and units in complexes. These generally range in price from R900000 up to about R1.4m and have two to three bedrooms.
Botha has observed a pronounced demographic shift in Meyerspark. The suburb is becoming younger as older residents sell their homes, and families with children move in.
Some of the older folk are downsizing or moving to retirement homes after living in the area for 20 to 30 years, says Botha, who reckons most of the homes here are at least 35 years old.
“One does find a combination of properties, some with original finishes and others that have been renovated.”
Young singles and growing families are well-served by ease of access to amenities and schools.
“There are conveniently situated schools in the area including a selection of nursery schools, Laerskool Meyerspark and Laerskool Skuilkrans, which makes the suburb attractive to parents with school-going children.
“The area’s centrality also supports an active lifestyle for the agile and mobile younger resident,” says Botha, who points out the convenience of nearby routes including the N4 and N1.
The suburb’s proximity to the Silverton business district and the Silvertondale industrial node also means that residents can find job opportunities on their doorstep, with many who work there choosing to live in Meyerspark.
Meyerspark Bird Sanctuary, meanwhile, makes staying here a pleasure for nature lovers and birdwatchers.
