The North Coast La Mercy Beach Hotel is among lots for In2Assets’ major multi-property auction at the Durban Country Club on February 7 at 11am.

The hotel can sleep about 70 guests in 28 sea-facing rooms, including three family suites.

Luke Hearn, who is handling the sale for In2Assets, says the hotel has a rich history in the area.

“La Mercy Beach Hotel caters for banquets, weddings and conferences in three separate function rooms of varying sizes. The hotel has a high average occupancy level of 70%.”

The hotel’s electricity is solar-powered, backed by a 200kVA generator. There is also a 30 000 litre water tank on site. The lifts have recently been upgraded and all rooms have air conditioning. There is a restaurant, known for its curries, two public bars, extensive parking and staff accommodation.

The hotel generates additional income from four cellphone-tower leases, and rentals from a bottle store and betting establishment on site.

The sale will include the transfer of employees’ services.
