Popular tourist spot Midmar Dam, where adjacent development land will be sold by Ian Wyles Auctioneers later this month, is highlighted by the website www.distancebetween.co.za.
The somewhat ambiguous website - with highly optimistic driving times - lists dozens of places easily reachable from the KZN Midlands dam.
It is, for example, a mere 22km from Pietermaritzburg, 100km from Durban, 425km from Bloemfontein and 460km from Joburg - which makes Midmar a most accessible destination.
In fact, it seems the sky is the limit also when leaving Midmar. The website says you could set your sights higher and drive to Paradise after savouring the delights of the dam.
The 218km trip to end all trips, so to speak, would take just one hour and 49 minutes at 120km/* . Frustratingly, the website fails to say in what direction - terrestrially or vertically - the traveller should head when leaving Midmar for Paradise.
