Hi-tech medical equipment, such as an eye-testing machine, medical examination tables and an X-ray viewer, are among 500 movable assets of Samwumed, the medical aid scheme of the South African Municipal Workers’ Union, to be auctioned by Property.CoZa on August 13 at 10am.
The sale will take place at the Samwumed Medi-Clinic at 321 Merrydale Avenue, Portlands, Mitchell’s Plain.
Samwumed, with its head office in Cape Town, is currently under curatorship.
Property.CoZa auctioneer Mark Gadd says all 500 lots must be sold and as there are no reserve prices, bidders are likely to acquire high-priced assets at “ridiculously low prices”.
In addition to the medical equipment on offer, the lots will include other Samwumed assets such as electronic equipment, appliances and furniture.
