Backworth Farm - described as a “subliminally beautiful property” - will be sold by In2Assets on April 17 at the Durban Country Club at 11am.

The farm, which is a portion of Strathfieldsaye Farm at Eston, dates back to 1924. Eston is in the southern part of the KZN Midlands, 76km from Durban and 39km from Pietermaritzburg.

Located 1 100m above sea level, the estate on offer boasts 360 degree views across the scenic Midlands. Backworth homestead is set among avenues of yellowwood trees and an abundance of colourful hydrangeas and azaleas. In2Assets says the 26 hectare property - which is 25km from Camperdown - has been well maintained and is just a short distance from Tala Game Reserve.

Improvements on the farm include two exceptionally large homesteads, two cottages, 13 single-accommodation units and 19 stables that could easily be converted to accommodation facilities.

Backworth Farm will be sold with all the implements required for general maintenance.

“Besides the striking manicured gardens, and array of impressive statues around the homestead, the property also has a pool, tennis court and pergola ideal to serve as chapel. It is perfect for a wedding venue or corporate retreat.

“There are many other attractive features of this immaculate property, reflecting decades of attention bestowed by proud owners,” says Carl Kleinhans, who is handling the sale for In2Assets.

The auction forms part of In2Assets’ multi-property sale for this month, featuring a wide range of commercial, industrial and residential properties. Over the last 15 years In2assets has sold over R15 billion worth of property.
