Kentridge landscape drawing fetches whopping R2.731m

Another one of Kentridge’s internationally exhibited print portfolios, Portage, sold for R682800, while a range of other Kentridge prints such as Four Cats, Summer Graffiti and Black Monkey Thorn all performed well.

The strong showing by the artist’s section of the sale was rounded off by his three-dimensional work Head I, which achieved R170700.

The work of Kentridge, who at the age of 64 is South Africa’s most sought-after living artist, has been seen in museums and galleries around the world, including Documenta in Kassel, Germany; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Albertina Museum in Vienna, Austria; and Jeu de Paume and Musée du Louvre in Paris, France.
