Jukskei Park offers much by way of convenience and value, and the centrality of this leafy northern suburb makes for a hustle-free lifestyle, thanks to many good schools, medical facilities, shopping centres and other amenities in the vicinity.
“These include Olivedale Clinic, Life Fourways Hospital, Olivedale Corner Shopping Centre and several nursery schools. “It is also close to the Montecasino entertainment hub,” says Charlene Meyer, Randburg director of property company Century 21.
She says Jukskei Park also has great versatility in terms of its property portfolio offering. The R3million mark is the top-end figure for a property, underscoring the neighbourhood’s relative affordability.
“With the wide price range of properties, there is something for everyone in the suburb. If you are just starting on the property ladder, the sectional title's market makes investment sense as there is a strong rental market in Jukskei Park,” says Meyer.
As of last week, there were 58 freeholds, 32 sectional titles and 10 clusters for sale in Jukskei Park, says Meyer. “The highest price last year was R3.1m. Top-end properties pique interest and there is a spillover from pricing in Douglasdale and Fourways,” she says.
The fairly affordable prices hold their values by virtue of being in the good company of popular neighbour suburbs, thanks to the generally good sentiment surrounding this northern part of Joburg.
“Statistics show an average-priced home in Jukskei Park sells for around R2.2m while sectional titles sell for R840000. “An interesting fact is that open stands or vacant land have seen phenomenal growth, with stands selling for an average R692000 in 2009 to R1.7m in 2019,” says Meyer.

She says the cluster and security estates in Jukskei Park are known to hold their value better and are quite sought after. “They present the best of both worlds, having the freedom of a freehold property while incorporating the security aspect of complex living.” Jukskei Park also has properties that need some tender loving care that can be bought for a fair price.
“The chance of over-capitalising is slim as Jukskei Park will slowly, but surely, catch up with the pricing for Douglasdale and Fourways,” Meyer says the bulk of the buyers in this suburb range from young adults to middle-aged residents, a segment that also accounts for 83% of the properties currently on sale in the area. This segment includes young families, for whom good schools are an irresistible and ready attraction.
She commends the sense of community and active community policing forums that strive to keep safety at a premium in the suburb. Olivedale is comparatively more affordable.
