Powell’s Auctioneers will stage an auction of “exceptional quality investment assets” at The Argyle in Woodstock on October 28 from 11am.

The sale will offer fine investment art, diamond and gold jewellery, hallmarked silver, new and pre-owned Persian and oriental carpets and rugs, classic motor vehicles, and antique furniture accumulated from executors of deceased estates, liquidating authorities and private sellers.

The jewellery and timepiece highlights will include:

* 4.8 carat diamond eternity ring.

* “Outstanding” diamond and sapphire ladies dress bracelet.

* Gent’s 18 carat rose gold Breitling Chronoliner watch.

* Rolex Sea Dweller deep-sea watch (unused with papers and original box).

* Gent’s Franck Muller Casablanca watch.

* NEO stainless steel gent’s watch.

Headlining the classic car collection are a 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda “in immaculate condition”, Rolls-Royce Corniche, Bentley Azure convertible and Bentley W12 Continental GT models.

Investment paintings by Gerard Sekoto, Gregoire Boonzaaier, Irma Stern, Maggie Laubser, Walter Battiss, Tretchikoff, Tinus de Jongh, William Timlin, Alexander Rose-Innes, and Beezy Bailey are among the lots.

A collection of hallmarked silver features a King’s Pattern cutlery set (more than 200 pieces), 1.7kg Geo II silver salver, 1.95kg art deco silver soup tureen and ladle, and Geo III berry spoons (still in their presentation box).

Highlighting the carpet collection is a rare silk-on-silk semi-antique Kashan carpet by master weaver Abas Erami.

A collection of more than 1000 bottles of wine and premium whiskies will also be knocked down and, for collectors, the selections include tin-plated toys, crystal glassware and decanters, porcelain, EPNS tableware, and a unique hand-crafted chess set depicting the political landscape of South Africa before democracy.

All the lots will be on display at designated preview times on October 26 and 27 at The Argyle, 1 Argyle Road, Woodstock. Pre-registration is essential as attendance is limited. There is ample secure parking and refreshments will be served on auction day.
