There was strong bidding from movie memorabilia collectors for the assets of iconic Hollywood director and actor Orson Welles.

Two dozen pages of script for his 1941 masterpiece, Citizen Kane, went for $15000 (about R205000), by far surpassing the $2000 pre-sale estimate.

Welles’ Bell & Howell movie camera used to record a bullfight in Spain sold for $37500 and a silver-plated cigar ashtray Ernest Hemingway gave him fetched $5000.
