One of the last vacant sites available in sought-after Clifton on the Cape’s Atlantic seaboard will be among more than 70 properties that will come under the virtual hammer at BidX1 South Africa’s first online auction on April 10.

“With sweeping views across Clifton and the ocean, the prime elevated 455m² site includes architecturally designed plans available for the successful registered bidder,” says MC du Toit, chief executive of Auctions and Sales for BidX1 South Africa.

Among other Western Cape properties expected to see competitive bidding is a four-bedroom, four-bathroom house in upmarket Benguela Cove Estate, a secure, private wine estate positioned between Kleinmond and Hermanus.

“The home is set on 2037m² and offers panoramic views over the Botrivier Lagoon and Kogelberg Mountains.”

In Sandbaai, a frontline luxury home overlooking the sea in Hermanus is also expected to attract high interest. Situated on 711m², it includes six en-suite bedrooms, a one-bedroom flat, a large open-plan living area with built-in braai and Jacuzzi, a gym, a balcony with an ocean view, a kitchen and lounge area and three lock-up garages.

In Somerset West, 55km south-east of Cape Town, a five-bedroom, five-bathroom home with a one-bedroom garden cottage, an outside braai area, a patio and pool will be up for bidding. Accessed off the N2 highway via the M9 onto Old Sir Lowry Pass Road, it is located on an equestrian estate within easy reach of a broad range of shops, restaurants and other amenities in Somerset West and nearby Gordon’s Bay.

A four-bedroom house in historic Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands will also be on offer.

Du Toit says BidX1 South Africa’s first catalogue features properties in prime locations around South Africa. Those located closer to Cape Town include a vacant plot on a golf estate in George on the Garden Route; a five-bedroom house in the surfer’s paradise of Jeffreys Bay, just 72km west of Port Elizabeth; and the Breede River Lodge in Witsand, dubbed the Whale Nursery of South Africa on the Cape south coast, about three hours’ drive from Cape Town.

In addition, a number of bank properties in various locations will be available for purchase on auction.
