Van’s Auctioneers is staging a major two-day liquidation auction of Underberg dairy farms - with abundant water, cattle and farming equipment - on October 17 and October 18, at 11am on site on both days.
On October 17, the farms - as well as Penwarn Trout and Equine Estate on the Bushman’s Nek Road near Underberg - will come under the hammer, with the livestock and farm implements to be auctioned on October 18.
The adjacent farms on offer in this auction comprise:
* The 1300ha Waterford Farm with 1800 cows in milk and about 2000 young replacement stock (“followers”). There are over 100 dams on the property.
* Walton Farm (650ha) with a satellite dairy building and staff cottage. An 11-tower Valley irrigation pivot is included.
* River Farm (170ha) with 21ha of dragline irrigation and 60ha of arable dry land.
The three farms will first be offered individually and then auctioned as one lot.
Also on offer October 17 will be Penwarn Country Lodge, an adjacent picturesque holiday farm of almost 1000ha with wedding chapel, lodges, luxury suites and self-catering cottages.
The three farms and Penwarn Estate itself will all be sold on site at Penwarn with livestock and movables auctioned at Waterford Farm on October 18.
