The Supreme Court of Appeal has overturned a High Court decision, finding the Eastern Cape Health Department responsible for a child's cerebral palsy due to 'substandard monitoring' during birth. The court highlighted critical failures by medical staff who failed to properly monitor the baby with a cord wrapped three times around its neck.
