An Austrian dominatrix received an unusually mild suspended prison sentence Monday for sadomasochistic sex play that left her client dead.
The 54-year-old man had hired the Vienna prostitute to make him lose consciousness by strangling him with a shoelace and to leave him behind in his hotel room.
A Vienna court found the 29-year-old woman guilty of having committed grievous bodily harm with fatal consequences.

Her two-year prison sentence was suspended on probation, far below the minimum five years foreseen by law.
Judge Nina Steindl said special lenience was warranted in this case because the defendant had gone back to the hotel to check on her client after he did not respond to a text message, and because she had informed police when he did not open the door.

“Your actions after the deed show that you aren't a completely uncaring person,” the judge said to the prostitute, who has since given up on offering sadistic services.
