Move over, David Attenborough, Tom Hanks is taking over.
The award-winning actor will lend his voice to a breathtaking exploration of the natural wonders of the world in the new nature documentary, "The Americas".
"The Americas", which promises to captivate audiences with its stunning visuals and compelling storytelling, is set to premiere on M-Net (DStv channel 101) from Sunday, April 6.
The 10-part series will also feature music by Grammy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
Produced by the creators of "Planet Earth" and "Blue Planet", this documentary will uncover the extraordinary beauty and complexity of the supercontinent that comprises North and South America.
Over five years of dedicated work and 180 expeditions have gone into revealing the extraordinary landscapes and the intricate behaviours of the continent's fauna and flora.
Each hour-long episode will highlight a different iconic location, from the striking Atlantic Coast and the vibrant culture of Mexico to the majestic expanse of Patagonia.
The series will take viewers on a journey through natural environments, such as the Amazon rainforest, the Frozen North and the Andes mountains, showcasing untold stories that exemplify the fragility and grandeur of the Earth’s most diverse landmass.
"I wanted to be on the front line. I feel lucky to be a part of this extraordinary project - of capturing something so real that it's irrefutable to anybody who watches it," said Hanks.
"It is a cavalcade of wonder, an hour of discovery where you will be enthralled, enlightened, educated and foremost, entertained," he added.
The series also aims to highlight the impactful truths about our environment, making it essential viewing for anyone invested in the planet's future.
Through the lens of cutting-edge technology, viewers will witness remarkable wildlife behaviours as never seen before.
The series is executively produced Mike Gunton, who leads the team at BBC Studios Natural History Unit and who is renowned for producing some of the world’s most respected natural history content.
