DURBAN - An emerging farmer from the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal is offering a reward to anyone who will come forward with information that might lead to the arrest of stock theft criminals who slaughtered 10 of his cattle in Mthwalume village near Hibberdene.
Mandlenkosi Radebe said: “I am offering R10 000 reward to anyone that will assist in getting the criminals arrested.”
Speaking to the Daily News, he said he was woken by managers working for a sugar cane company who asked him to come and see if he could identify cattle found slaughtered in the sugar cane fields.
“Managers found thieves still skinning the cattle, but when we were approaching thieves fired shots at us before running away,” Radebe said.

He added that he identified his cattle easily with the heads which thieves left behind.
Radebe said his cattle were removed from the kraal while he was asleep and no one in the family heard anything.
Police Minister Bheki Cele has promised to do more to fight stock theft in the province. He told the Daily News on Monday that he was informed about the incident while he was on the South Coast at the weekend and promised to take it up with police to ensure that the criminals were arrested soon.
He said he was approached by legislature member Mondli Chiliza, who told him about the incident and asked him to intervene as stock theft was worrying communities in the province.
“I am aware of the incident and will follow up soon to arrest the criminals. It was a painful thing for Radebe to lose so many cattle,” said Cele.
