DURBAN - As the festive season begins to reach its peak, the SAPS and Metro Police Search and Rescue Units have begun recovering bodies.
On Saturday morning, officers from the Durban SAPS Search and Rescue Unit, alongside Metro Police Search and Rescue Unit,were called out to the Landsdowne Road pump station for a recovery.
Police said the body of an unknown man was found wedged into the filtration grid in the basement separation tank.
Police have opened a murder docket.

Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said that on December 16, the Day of Reconciliation, Bellair police opened an inquest after it was alleged that at 2pm, a 41-year-old man was electrocuted while trying to steal power cables above the railway tracks.

His body was recovered by SAPS and Metro Police Search and Rescue units.
That morning, both units were called out to Verulam, north of Durban, where they recovered the body of an unknown man which was found floating in the Mdloti River near Wick Street.
