DURBAN – The person who went missing in the Everton Conservancy, north-west of Durban, on Wednesday night, was found and reunited with his family after a search and rescue operation was conducted.

Rescuetech Search and Rescue chairperson Warren Brauns said on Wednesday night, they were contacted by the metro police search and rescue team to help them with a missing person in the Everton Conservancy.

Rescuetech was dispatched to the scene and they made contact with metro police.

Brauns said Rescuetech members, Netcare 911 paramedics and volunteers from a neighbourhood watch were divided into two groups to search for the missing person.

“Approximately 1km in, contact was made with the missing person in dense bush and walking in the river in a confused state.”

“Rescuetech members were able to reach the patient and an assessment was made and no injuries were found. After all assessment were done, the patient was assisted walking back to where medical and his family was waiting for him,” Brauns said.

He said that the circumstances as to how the person got lost and disorientated will be investigated by metro police.

He also thanked all the people from the surrounding area that came out to assist with the search.
