DURBAN - An elderly Durban man was assaulted and injured during an alleged home invasion on The Grove in Montclair.

Garrith Jamieson of ALS Paramedics Medical Services said ALS paramedics and ET Rapid Response officers arrived at the scene to find that a man believed to be in his 80s was at home with his young grandchildren when they were allegedly attacked during a home invasion.

“The man sustained moderate injuries and was stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby Durban hospital for the further treatment that he required,” Jamieson said.

“The two children were unharmed during the incident but were severely traumatised.”

Jamieson said the events leading up to the incident were unknown but the South African Police Service was on the scene and would be investigating the matter.
