Durban: A six-year-old boy was with his father, one of five municipal employees, when three suspects robbed them of their cellphones and five brush cutters.
Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) spokesperson Prem Balram said that five municipal employees and a boy, aged six, were robbed by armed suspects at the Trenance Park soccer grounds, on Trenance Park Drive, on Wednesday.
Balram said Rusa officers were called out to the scene at about11.05am.
“On arrival, it was established that three occupants of a white Ford Ranger club cab (registration unknown), with three occupants, drove onto the grounds shortly after municipal employees had cut the grass,” Balram said.
“The occupants of the bakkie confronted the victims, which included a six-year-old boy, and instructed them to lay on the ground. The minor was spending the day with his father due to water cuts at his school. They were robbed of their cellphones and five brush cutters. The robbers sped off in the direction of Inanda, KZN. No injuries were reported,” said Balram
Balram said Reaction Unit SA officers conducted an extensive search, however, no arrests were made.
