DURBAN - Blue Security’s Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) and the Umgeni Park Community Policing Forum apprehended a suspected violent sexual predator over the weekend.

Blue Security said the community of Durban North had been terrorised for months by the suspect who had robbed and sexually assaulted staff from surrounding businesses and domestic workers along Riverside Road.

The private security company said their CCPU officer had headed over to Riverside, parked his vehicle and patrolled on foot along the route that the suspect operates from to rob and attack his unsuspecting victims.

“He discovered the suspect trying to rob four women on their way to work and immediately pursued him. The suspect was apprehended by our CCPU officer after a short pursuit,” Blue Security said.

“The suspect was positively identified by the victims as well as by a domestic worker who was sexually assaulted over the weekend. He was handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS where he will be charged for sexual assault and robbery.”

The police had not commented by the time of publication.
