Top singers for ‘Divos’ show at GrandWest

IN the wake of the recent Diva’s show, an all-male equivalent titled Divos will be staged at GrandWest, Grand Arena, at 8pm tonight. On the bill are Loyiso Bala, Chad Saaiman, Alistair Izobell, Luqmaan Adams and James Bhemgee. Genres will span dance, R&B ballads and opera.

The show will mark Saaiman’s return to the stage after his hijacking in Gauteng. He released his debut, Chasing Melodies, through Stereotype Records. The album received an SA Music Award (Sama) nomination for Best English Pop Album in 2009. He also released three singles to radio – Moving On, Seeing Stars and Won’t Change. His second release, The Flight, is also on the shelves.

Bala has won multiple awards, including Best R&B Album of 2007 at the Metro FM Awards, five Samas and three Metro FM awards and Best R&B and Best Producer at the 2008 Samas. He was nominated for best song of 2009 and 2010 at the Samas for Blow Your Mind and Maybe, respectively. He was also nominated at the MTV Awards. Last year Bala released a new single, Wrong for You.

Bhemgee, of Mitchells Plain, has been seen on SA’s Got Talent as well as with André Rieu.

Actor/singer Adams, of Jag and Breyani fame, has appeared with Emo on their Brother Love show.

Izobell can be heard on Heart 104.9 FM radio every Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 2pm.
