Rhinocephants on the Roof by Marita van der Vyver and Dale Blankenaar is an illustrated children's book which tells the tale of Daniel

visiting his grandparents' house for the first time. But at bedtime

when the lights go out he hears strange noises and his imagination

takes hold. His grandparents reassure the frightened boy after each

successive sound. The book’s dimensions are long which adds a sense

of space for a picture narrative within a tall house and is hardbound

which is sure to ensure it is a hand-me-down bedtime favourite. The

font style is easy to read too. The book is beautifully illustrated,

richly complimenting the story and is a tale which teaches children

that they should not let the unknown intimate them when they are faced

with new experiences and that loved ones are there when sought out for

reassurance and comfort. This is sure to be a favourite in households

with young ones and is imaginatively illustrated.
