SA maize crop forecast cut

Johannesburg - South Africa on Tuesday cut its forecast of maize output for 2013 to 11.375 million tonnes from a previous estimate of 11.44 million tonnes.

The maize crop will consist of an estimated 5.889 million tonnes of white maize and 5.486 million tonnes of yellow, the government's Crop Estimates Committee said.

The harvest estimate is in line with market expectations of 11.37 million tonnes, according to a Reuters poll. - Reuters
